Celebration of Lay Ministry
This special celebration is in Lincoln Cathedral 9.30 to 11.30am on Saturday. We will celebrate the story of lay ministries in our diocese. We will also look to the future, considering how vocations to lay ministries enable our worship, discipleship and service. And we will re-commit ourselves to the ministry God has called each one of us to – whatever that might be. All are welcome.
Dean’s Verger coming to St Giles
John Campbell, the Dean’s Verger at Lincoln Cathedral will speak at St Giles Fellowship at 2pm on 31 October. He is a most entertaining speaker and well worth hearing.
Alternative Halloween event
We shall hold a ‘Light Party’ at 3.30pm on Wednesday 31 October – Halloween. It’s for everyone, but with a focus on children’s activities. Halloween is All Hallows Eve (the day before all Saints Day) so is rightly a celebration of the saints and eternal life not of ghosts and zombies!
Remembering our loved ones
This year’s service of commemoration for our loved ones who have died will be at 4pm on Sunday
4 November. If you would like family or friends remembered by name please write the names CLEARLY on the notice at the back of church.
The local branch of the Lincoln Guild of bellringers is having its quiz evening in St Giles Church Hall on Saturday 10th November at 7pm. If any members of the congregation, or friends, would like to take part they will be very welcome for the evening, which includes a faith supper. None of the questions are about bell ringing? More information from Mick or Betty.
To mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War we shall hold a special service of Remembrance, beginning at 10.30am, on Sunday 11 November. Please invite neighbours, family and friends to join us on this special occasion.
Holy Communion will be celebrated at 4pm as it will not be included in the morning service.
Work has begun to draw together an Eden Team, based at the Methodist Church, to reach out to families in the streets around our churches. Please hold the Team Leader, John Lawson, in your prayers as he seeks a home in the area and builds the team.
