We have been delighted to be able to run holiday clubs for primary school aged children over the last few years, and this is something we hope to continue to offer, particularly for a week in the school summer holidays. We have used the Scripture Union materials, including Guardians of Ancora and Treasure Seekers https://guardiansofancora.com
In Summer 2020 we offered ‘Holiday Club at Home’ as sadly we weren’t able to gather in the church hall due to the Covid restrictions. We were delighted to be able to deliver ‘holiday club activity bags’ to over 50 children – most of whom had been to out holiday clubs before. Once again we used the Guardians of Ancora materials. We suggested a craft activity to be completed at home for each day, and delivered all the materials to the children at the beginning of the week. The ‘activity bag’ also included items such as felt tip pens, colouring sheets, an activity book etc. We were very grateful to congregation members for their generous donations which covered the cost of all the materials, and to Eden St Giles for the donation of activity books.
The daily videos that we recorded for ‘Holiday Club at Home’ can be viewed here. They include a welcome and prayer from Nick, the telling of the daily story by Rachel (dressed as Fabula from Guardians of Ancora) and a description of the craft activity by Michelle.
Here is the well loved theme song of Guardians of Ancora – the children love to sing and dance to this; with accompanying actions, of course!
Below are some photos from 2017-2020 to give a flavour of the clubs (the photos from 2020 are from the children’s homes!)
