A Church of England funeral is available to everyone, giving support before, during and after the service, for as long as it’s needed.
The funeral can take place in church, followed by a short service at the crematorium or cemetery. Or it can take place fully at the crematorium. The funeral is a time to remember the person before God and give thanks for their life, to commend the person to God’s eternal care, and to comfort one another in grief.
The funeral service usually includes a reading from the Bible, a hymn or song, prayers and reflections on the person’s life. It can also include a poem, or other readings, a family tribute, music.
Your first point of contact for a funeral is the funeral director. Please do ask the funeral director if you would like a church funeral, or would like a Church of England minister to take the funeral.
